Trio from Olds and Calgary arrested near Halkirk

Three people have been charged following an incident near Halkirk, in east-central Alberta.

Coronation RCMP say that on March 7, they were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near an ATCO site on Township Road 400, north of the village.

The complainant indicated that there appeared to be leaking fluids coming from underneath the vehicle.

RCMP attended and located three males inside the vehicle, as well as many items in the box of the truck, which police say is allegedly stolen property. All three males were arrested at the scene, and a search incidental to arrest led to the following seizure:

  • Approximately 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • Break-in instruments
  • Stolen fuel (from Village of Halkirk office)
  • Items stolen from ATCO site

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old man from Olds, a 50-year-old man from Olds, and a 45-year-old man from Calgary, have jointly been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance (meth)
  • Break and enter
  • Mischief under $5000 (x2)
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x3)
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Possess break and enter tools

In addition, the 48-year-old was charged with breach of probation. The other two have been charged with two counts of breaching their release orders.

After court hearings, the trio were remanded into custody and will be appearing in court again on March 10 and 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer. The 48-year-old was released with conditions to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Coronation on March 14, 2025.
