Cheerleading competition coming to Westerner Park

Over 120 cheerleading teams from across Alberta are descending on Red Deer’s Westerner Park this weekend.

The Red Carpet Cheer Classic is set to take place at the Parkland Pavilion on Feb. 8, with teams of all ages and skill levels competing for top honours in a display of athleticism, teamwork and enthusiasm.

The full day of events runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. Attendees can expect high-flying stunts, dynamic routines and a celebration of the cheerleading community.

Tickets and a schedule are available online. The website notes that if registration numbers require, the competition will extend into Feb. 9.
