The Central Alberta Theatre is bringing the 1950s’ back.

With multiple show times from February 7-16, the local theatre will present Pouf! by Lou Clyde, a nostalgic situational comedy that takes place in 1958.

The shows will take place in the studio theatre upstairs in CAT studios located at the Red Deer Memorial Centre.

Directed by Glorene Ellis, Pouf! is an uplifting show about marriage, sisterhood, independence, and finding joy.

The story is focused around Betty, a frustrated housewife, who feels trapped in her role. She takes the matter into her own hands and turns her living room into a salon and showcases her talent of “poufing” hair to change the lives of the women in her neighbourhood. It’s a show for all ages.

With inspiration from Elvis and her sister, her salon becomes the talk of the town.

“Life a bit intense these days? I hear you. We’ll give you a laugh,” says director Glorene Ellis in a media release.

The show dates are set for Feb. 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. However, there will also be shows on Feb. 9 and 16 at 1 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased on the Central Alberta Theatre website, or through the box office at 403-967-1769.
