Eileen Park had a tremendous finish at this week’s Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, B.C.

Park was +5 after two rounds (73-76) and in a tie for 35th, but stormed back with the best second half of the tournament by any competitor to finish -1 and alone in 9th.

Park shot 69 (-3) in both the third and fourth rounds to come within seven strokes of winner Yurang Li of Fullerton, California.

Just 15, the Red Deerian was the third-best Canadian in the tournament after Surrey, B.C.’s Lauren Kim (-5), who turns 19 next week, and fellow Team Canada NextGen member Anna Huang (-2) of Vancouver, who is also 15.

Park’s final two rounds included eight birdies and two par-four bogies.

rdnewsNOW spoke to Eileen Park last week following a sixth place finish at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship in Vancouver.
