Blackfalds Bulldogs to attend first BCHL showcase in Abbotsford and Chilliwack

The BC Hockey League has announced it will host its 2024 Showcase event in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, B.C.

The annual event will be the first for five teams from Alberta — Blackfalds, Brooks, Okotoks, Sherwood Park and Spruce Grove — who joined the league earlier this year from the AJHL.

The event runs Oct. 13-17 at the Abbotsford Centre and Chilliwack Coliseum — the latter being home to the BCHL’s Chiefs.

It will also be hosted in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks.

“We are thrilled to have the support of the Vancouver Canucks as co-hosts of this year’s Showcase event,” said BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker.

“With the support of an NHL team for the second year in a row and the ability to host the Showcase games in a professional building like the Abbotsford Centre, as well as a top-notch facility in Chilliwack, we think the 2024 Showcase will provide a heightened experience for our players, as well as the hundreds of scouts that will attend.”

New to the event this year will be a Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) under-18 Showcase, which will be played in the latter stages of the event at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

All games played (except the U18 showcase) are regular season games.

Blackfalds will play a home game on Oct. 14 against Vernon in Abbotsford, then an away contest versus Prince George on Oct. 15 in Abby.

Prior to the showcase, Blackfalds has a date with the Chilliwack Chiefs on Oct. 12.
