Splish, splash the legislature fountains are back!
Beginning July 1, visitors can enjoy the new reflecting pool and dome fountain at the Alberta legislature grounds.
Government officials note that Alberta’s legislature grounds have been a gathering place for Albertans and visitors from all walks of life. While the legislature was originally completed in 1913, the grounds have evolved over time, including some of the newest updates opening over the long weekend after being closed for construction since March 2023.
With the completion of the new reflecting pool and dome fountain, visitors to the grounds can once again enjoy the water features. The new features of the pool include barrier-free entry points to allow safe and easy access for people with mobility challenges, which opens the pool to more people.
“Albertans and visitors to the legislature have been waiting a long time for these pools to reopen and I am thrilled that Phase 1 is done for them to enjoy this summer! I look forward to continuing the work to keep our legislature grounds accessible, safe and fun for everyone for decades to come,” says Pete Guthrie, Minister of Infrastructure.
