Road repair disruptions beginning Friday
Red Deer motorists are advised of upcoming traffic disruptions as crews work to repair arterial roadways throughout the city. According to City officials, the micro-surfacing product applied in previous years are being fixed under the warranty agreement with the contracted service provider.
Residents may see pothole repairs, spray patching, and crack sealing occurring. Officials say these micro-surfacing measures are preventative maintenance projects intended to slow down roadway wear and tear.
“As with all roadway construction, micro-surfacing requires favourable conditions throughout the application and curing process. Unfortunately, some work completed last season did not have ideal conditions during curing and have experienced extensive deterioration. The contractor will be returning to repair these sections of roadway in June 2024 at no additional costs to the city as the work is under warranty,” says Lee Birn, Engineering Planning Superintendent, Parks and Public Works.
