Two youths arrested at Bower Place after firearms complaints

Red Deer RCMP arrested two youths on Saturday at Bower Place Shopping Centre after receiving two firearms-related complaints.

RCMP say it was about 7:30 p.m. on May 18 when the complaints came in, stating that two people were displaying a handgun inside the mall.

Officers attended and enrolled assistance from mall security to lock the mall down and secure the public in various stores.

Officers located the suspects, both youths, and arrested them without incident.

A search incidental to arrest revealed a knife with a handle resembling a handgun.

RCMP reassure the public there is no ongoing danger.

The incident comes after two police-involved incidents at Bower Place late last month.

An update on the most recent incident may be provided at a later date, RCMP add.
