Students from across Prairies gather in Red Deer for annual Provincial Festival of Bands this May

Students from across the Canadian Prairies will be coming to Red Deer this May for the annual Alberta Band Association Provincial Festival of Bands.

From May 13-16 and May 21-24, roughly 6,000 Junior, Senior and Community Band students from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be participating in eight days of performances, clinics and sight-reading activities, held at Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) for the 45th year.

Officials say some of the country’s most prestigious adjudicators, educators, and clinicians will be judging this year’s festival.

The public is being invited to attend free event, with performances from 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. each day at RDP’s Mainstage in the Arts Centre.
