FlixBus expands into Alberta starting April 5

Apr 5, 2024 | 10:02 AM

Starting today (April 5), a new bus service expands to Alberta under the FlixBus banner.

FlixBus, a partner brand of Greyhound in the United States, will operate stations in Red Deer, Fort Macleod, Okotoks-Aldershyde, Claresholm, Lethbridge, Edmonton and Calgary.

“We are thrilled to bring our services to Alberta, Canada, and provide customers with a new way to travel throughout the province,” said Kai Boysan, CEO of Flix North America.

“Our goal is to make long-distance travel affordable, comfortable, and sustainable for everyone. With our extensive network and modern buses, we are confident that we can meet the needs of travelers in Alberta. We are grateful to our partner Universal for enabling this expansion to Alberta to occur.”

The company says its network allows customers to reach 2,300 destinations across North America, and tickets can be booked at greyhound.com or flixbus.com, or through those companies’ mobile apps.

FlixBus also operates in Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec.

It’s expansion to Alberta comes after Greyhound completely shut down all Canadian services in 2021, with operations ceasing in western Canada three years prior.

According to the FlixBus website, a one-way ticket from Red Deer to Edmonton, for example, costs between $14.99 and $25.99.
