Sentencing date set for Ponoka County man charged in drugs, firearms, explosives, and stolen merchandise seizure

A sentencing date has been set for the second of two people charged following the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, firearms, explosives, and various stolen merchandise in Ponoka County last year.

Timothy Shawn Leblanc, 36, of Ponoka County, is scheduled for sentencing in Ponoka Court of Justice on April 19, 2024.

His co-accused, 28-year-old Amanda Stewart, also a resident of Ponoka County, saw her charges withdrawn on July 28, 2023, after originally being scheduled for trial in Ponoka Court of Justice on Sept. 1, 2023.

It was on Feb. 16, 2023, when RCMP received information with regards to stolen property at a rural location near Ponoka. As a result of the investigation, between Feb. 18-21, 2023, Ponoka RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Section and the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit, executed search warrants at the property.

As a result of the searches, RCMP seized:

A 2018 John Deere Skid Steer stolen from a Feb. 5, 2022 Ponoka area gravel pit
A stolen 1998 Dodge Ram
High Wall dump trailer with obliterated Vehicle Identification Number
A Heavy duty car hauler trailer
Various stolen household items including video games, luggage, scuba diving equipment, air pistols etc.

Timothy Shawn Leblanc was charged with:

Possession of stolen property over $5000
Possession of stolen property under $5000
Alter VIN from a motor vehicle
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
Unsafe storage of firearms.
Failing to comply with release conditions (x2)
Possess an explosive

Amanda Stewart was charged with:

Possession of stolen property over $5000
Possession of stolen property under $5000
Alter VIN from a motor vehicle
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
Unsafe storage of firearms.
