Rebels’ Josephson selected to CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game

One Red Deer Rebels player, Ollie Josephson, will participate in this season’s CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, this January on the east coast.

Josephson is currently in his second full WHL season. He has three goals and 16 assists in 32 games, which matches his personal best single season point total from last year, when he played 63 games.

The centre is from Victoria, B.C. and was drafted by Red Deer 5th overall in 2021.

Josephson joins 17 other Western Hockey League representatives taking part in the big game, and is one of 12 WHL forwards attending.

In recent years, other Red Deer Rebels to participate include Kalan Lind, Chris Sedoff and Oleg Zaytsev.

The 40 total players will be divided onto team red and team white in the new year.

Since its inception in 1996, the game has featured 16 players who went on to become first overall picks by NHL teams, most recently Connor Bedard.

The 28th CHL/NHL Top Prospects game goes Jan. 24 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, home of the QMJHL’s Wildcats. This is the first time the game is being hosted in New Brunswick.
