Red Deer RCMP continue investigation into potential threat at local high school

Dec 14, 2023 | 4:09 PM

Red Deer RCMP were present at Lindsey Thurber Comprehensive High School for the duration of the day on Thursday, following a non-specific threat found written on a bathroom stall on Wednesday.

Police say they conducted extensive patrols to ensure the safety of staff and students and no concerns were reported.

Red Deer RCMP would like to remind students and families about the seriousness of these situations. Mounties say all incidents of this nature are investigated thoroughly and those found responsible could potentially face criminal charges. Police remind residents that these actions have far-reaching effects on other students, their families, school and community.

Mounties note, however, the investigation into this matter continues, and police will continue patrols and increased presence for some time.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2200, call 911, or contact your local Police Service.
