Red Deer rental rates rise in September and year over year

Average rents in the city of Red Deer continue to rise.

According to the latest National Rent Report from rentals.ca, the average rent for a one-bedroom unit in Red Deer in September was $1,212 per month, up 4.8 per cent from August, and 26.8 per cent from the same month last year.

The average rent for a two-bedroom unit was $1,402 per month, up 4.2 per cent from August, and 16.1 per cent from September 2022.

That puts Red Deer at 32nd on the list of 35 Canadian cities included in the report.

Elsewhere, Calgary placed 23rd on the list, with an average rent of $1,730 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $2,182 per month for a two-bedroom place.

Edmonton placed 29th on the list, with an average rent of $1,279 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,580 per month for a two-bedroom.

Fort McMurray was $1,208 per month for a one-bedroom unit in September, while a two-bedroom unit rented for an average of $1,520 per month.

Nation-wide, the average rent for a one-bedroom unit in Canada last month was $1,889, while a two-bedroom was $2,342 per month.

Vancouver, B.C., topped the list with an average rent of $2,976 per month for a one-bedroom unit, while two-bedrooms rented for an average of $3,908.

Saskatoon, SK, was 35th on the list, with an average rent of $1,070 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,244 per month for a two-bedroom place.
