Red Deer home sales lower in September, but higher than same month last year

Home sales in Red Deer were lower in September when compared to the month before, with year-to-date numbers also lower to this point last year.

According to the latest Market Update from Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 165 units sold in Red Deer in September, down from 189 units sold in August, but higher than the 128 units sold in September 2022.

Year-to-date numbers show 1,494 units sold in Red Deer during the first nine months of the year, down from 1,655 units sold by the end of September in 2022.

The average sale price in Red Deer in September was $356,361, up from $349,999 in August and $341,501 in September 2022.

The average number of days to sell a home in Red Deer last month was 37 days, down from 43 days in August, and 49 days in September 2022.

Throughout the entire Central Alberta market, there were 455 units sold throughout the region in September, down from 547 units sold in August, but up from 406 units sold in September 2022.

Year-to-date numbers show 4,091 units sold throughout Central Alberta in the first nine months of 2023, down from 4,771 units sold to this point last year.

According to the update, the average sale price throughout Central Alberta in September was $386,097, up from $363,025 in August, and $344,533 in September 2022.

The average number of days to sell a home in Central Alberta last month was 52, up from 51 days in August, but down from 57 days during the same month last year.
