‘Tradition Lives’ lacrosse tournament marks 31st year

May 20, 2023 | 2:00 PM

The Tradition Lives box lacrosse tournament is marking its 31st anniversary this weekend at Red Deer’s Kinsmen and Dawe arenas.

The four-day tournament has teams playing from across the province.

A total of 42 teams, from U9 to U17 (7 to 17-years-old), are taking part through Monday.

“There are now kids playing whose parents played in this tournament,” says Heather Nelson, scheduler, Red Deer Lacrosse Association. “In past years, we’ve had teams from B.C. and Saskatchewan, and we’re the biggest and longest-running tournament in Alberta. That’s what makes this event so awesome.”
