Red Deerians called to nominate young athletes for Rising Sport Stars award

The City of Red Deer is seeking nominations of young athletes for the Rising Sport Stars awards program.

Through the program, the city says athletes aged 12 years or younger who participate in a Red Deer sport organization are recognized for their commitment, passion, effort or for overcoming adversity to successfully participate and develop skills, regardless of result.

“Many young athletes in our community are just beginning a lifelong journey of being active and achieving success in sport,” said city officials in a release.

Awards are presented annually at Xplore Sport Day, which takes place on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Capstone Canada 150 Square. The City says more information about the award ceremony and timing will be announced closer to the event.
