Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team make arrest for stolen vehicle

A man with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested in Red Deer this week after RCMP located a stolen vehicle and apprehended a suspect who fled on foot.

On Mar. 15, 2023, at approximately 04:01 p.m., Mounties say a member of the public reported the location of a stolen BMW 328I to Red Deer RCMP.

As a result of this information the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) attended the location and the driver fled on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, police say the suspect was arrested.

Jason Gaskell, a 40-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested and remanded into custody. He is charged with:

  • Resist arrest
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of identity documents
  • 10 outstanding warrants
