Residents reminded of Fireworks Bylaw in advance of New Year’s Eve
Red Deer Emergency Services are reminding residents of local fireworks restrictions in advance of New Year’s Eve.
“We want to remind Red Deerians to leave fireworks to the professionals,” said Fire Marshal Tim Kivell. “Fireworks can be dangerous and can have serious environmental repercussions if proper planning and precautions are not in place, which is why we require licensed professionals to be involved.”
The City implemented a Fireworks Bylaw in 2019 which requires licenced professionals to operate the explosive devices to ensure safety and protection of residents and property.
Red Deerians are encouraged to attend the free New Year’s Eve fireworks show at Bower Ponds, which is hosted by Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society. Fireworks will be set off around 8 p.m.
