Red Deer native Rebecca Smith to swim for Canada at FINA World Swimming Championships

An Olympic silver medalist from Red Deer will be among those swimming for Team Canada at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) being held in Melbourne, Australia this week.
Rebecca Smith will be joined by 16 other of her Canadian teammates from Dec. 13-18, 2022, at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Smith won a silver medal and bronze medal at the Budapest 2022 FINA World Championships earlier this year as a member of the national team.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Smith was a member of the women’s 4×100-m freestyle that captured silver, Canada’s first medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
