AUPE members at AGLC vote “Yes” to new collective agreement
Officials with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) have announced that almost eight hundred members working for Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis have voted to ratify a tentative agreement that was reached with the assistance of a mediator after members voted against a previous proposed agreement.
AUPE officials say members will see a 1.25 per cent wage increase effective January 1, 2023 and at least another 1.5 per cent increase effective September 1, 2023 (the latter may increase to 2 per cent subject to a Gain Sharing Formula). Officials say the agreement expires on July 31, 2024.
“Our negotiating team did the best that they could do with an employer that was clearly taking marching orders from the provincial government and members recognize that,” observed AUPE Vice President Bonnie Gostola.
“Even in the face of skyrocketing inflation and labour shortages, employers across all sectors – including this very profitable one – came to the table with a mandate seeking wage rollbacks and other concessions,” she added.
