Rimbey RCMP respond to workplace fatality

Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is investigating a workplace fatality in central Alberta this week.

On Nov. 8, at 11:00 a.m., Rimbey RCMP received a report of a workplace accident involving an excavator on Range Road 11 in Lacombe County.

Despite efforts by EMS and Fire, a 38-year-old resident of Bentley was deceased.

RCMP secured the scene and say OH&S was contacted.

Trent Bancarz, spokesperson for OH&S, says the incident occurred at a resort in Gull Lake.

“One worker has died while doing mechanical work on equipment. OH&S has not issued any orders in connection with this incident and as this is an active investigation, no further information will be provided.”
