With the rain and cooler temperatures today, record high temperatures set in parts of central Alberta again on Wednesday already seem like a distant memory.

However, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada, a few communities throughout central Alberta did set new daily maximum temperature records for October 19.

Those communities include the Breton area which unofficially set a new record high of 23.8 degrees Celsius on October 19, 2022. That surpasses the previous record high for that date of 21.7 degrees Celsius set in 1940. Meteorologists say records have been kept in that area since 1939.

In the Nordegg area, a new record of 24.0 degrees Celsius was set on Oct. 19, beating the old record of 21.7 degrees set in 1974. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.
