Alberta NDP names candidate for Lacombe-Ponoka

The Alberta NDP have named their candidate for Lacombe-Ponoka.

Teacher Dave Dale, a Mirror resident, currently teaches Grade 6.

“I am so honoured that the members of this community have placed their trust in me to represent them in the coming election. I have lived in Mirror with my wife since 2006, and have seen firsthand the damage that the current government has caused in our area,” said Dale.

“The UCP’s reckless disregard for our healthcare system, their defunding of our world-renowned education system and its dedicated teachers have weakened the social fabric of our communities. I can no longer watch the Alberta I grew up in be systematically dismantled, so I am proud to join Rachel Notley and the Alberta NDP in their vision to build a better future for the province.”

Born in Calgary, Dale has taught for more than 25 years.

He is an active member of the Alberta Teachers Association, serving as the local Vice President and Chair of the Negotiating Subcommittee. Dale holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Calgary.

Before teaching, Dale worked in Child and Youth Care in Calgary, and has been working with kids since he was a camp counsellor, the party says.

“I am running to be the MLA for this region because I know the issues my neighbours struggle with, and can see the solutions in the proposals and policies being put forward by the NDP,” said Dale. “We are losing doctors and teachers at alarming rates because of this government, and enough is enough. I am ready to rebuild trust with Albertans and focus on the issues that matter around the kitchen table.”

The Lacombe-Ponoka UCP Constituency Association has not yet held a nomination contest.
