Wetaskwin RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision

UPDATE:

Oct.13 — Wetaskiwin RCMP and emergency services have cleared the scene on Highway 814 and Township Road 472.

Wetaskiwin RCMP initially received a 911 report of the collision at 1:42 p.m., on Oct. 13, 2022.

Wetaskiwin RCMP’s preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck was heading southbound on Highway 814 north of Wetaskiwin when it crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic in the area of Township Road 462 and collided with an SUV that was traveling northbound.

Mounties say the driver and passenger of the SUV were declared deceased at the scene by EMS and the rear passenger of the SUV was taken by STARS to an Edmonton area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were taken by ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital with serious injuries.

Police say further details regarding the deceased cannot be shared at this time pending notification of next of kin. The names of the deceased will not be released.

Wetaskiwin RCMP continue to investigate this fatality along with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.

Wetaskiwin RCMP extend their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Wetaskwin RCMP are currently on scene of a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 814 and Township road 472, north of Wetaskiwin.

Mounties say there are reports of multiple serious life threatening injuries.

RCMP anticipate traffic on Highway 814 in both directions will be affected for several hours while officers investigate the collision and emergency crews clean the scene.
