Safe Harbour Society receives new accreditation

Safe Harbour Society, which runs programs for people experiencing homelessness in Red Deer, including the temporary emergency shelter, has received a new accreditation.

Following a vigorous assessment of its services and programs, Accreditation Canada granted accreditation status to Safe Harbour.

The AC team spent three days at Safe Harbour evaluating all processes, policies and delivery systems to ensure its meeting or exceeding national standards.

“I am proud of our team and the work they do. This confirms Safe Harbour’s role as a leader in delivering vital services to our community,” says Executive Director Kath Hoffman.

“Quality and safety are extremely important to everyone who works here. These results demonstrate our commitment to quality initiatives that make our clients, staff, and neighbours safer.”

A release from Safe Harbour notes AC was, “impressed by Safe Harbour’s range of services. They singled out the effectiveness and efficiency of the Detox program.”

Up to now, Safe Harbour has always followed all standards and legislation, Hoffman notes.

This, she explains, is a deeper dive into making sure Safe Harbour is doing on the ground what it says it doing on paper.
