Seven champions at this year’s River Bend Golf Club Championships

Seven participants became champions this past weekend at The River Bend Golf & Recreation Area’s annual Club Championship.

The tournament was held from August 20-21 at 3800 River Bend Drive and includes the following winners:

  • Men’s Club Champion (up to 49 years old): Mike Verfailie
  • Ladies Club Champion (up to 49 years old): Lori Backen
  • Senior Men’s Club Champion (50-64 years old): Greg Gigliuk
  • Senior Ladies Club Champion (50-64 years old): Dee Penifold
  • Super Senior Men’s Club Champion (65 years old and up): Duck Cheon
  • Super Senior Ladies Club Champion (65 years old and up): Linda Prior
  • Junior Club Champion: Zane Lundstrom

In flights, Deb Janko won the Senior Lady Low Gross, with the lowest score without handicap consideration. After handicap adjustments of players’ abilities, Elizabeth Wilson won Senior Lady Low Net.

For the Super Senior Lady category, Marion Hagerty won Low Gross while Joanne Henry won Low Net.

In men’s, Jordan Williamson won the Low Gross while Sean Roberts won Low Net.

In the first flight grouping, Stan Krawiec won the Senior Men’s Low Gross; Ron Blais won Low Net. For the Super Senior Men’s category, Mike Koselak won Low Gross and Bryce Albrecht won Low Net.

In the second flight, Tom Williamson achieved the Senior Men’s Low Gross title with Dan Durette taking the Low Net prize. In the Super Seniors Men’s, Martin Lischka won Low Gross with Ron Karol taking Low Net, both best scores calculated on a countback to compare players’ scores over a range of holes.
