Penhold Library also provided a one-on-one reading program for children twice a week aged 6 -11 which included helping them pick out age-appropriate books of interest.

“We are very proud of our Penhold & District Library team and their ability to find creative ways to continue providing a service when the facility was shut down during COVID,” said Mayor Mike Yargeau. “Their commitment to providing its Summer Reading Program saw them create a mobile reading program to fill its goal of connecting with the community, encouraging literacy, and promoting lifelong learning that is fun for the whole family.”

“This team of young ladies, with the support of the Library Manager, created lesson plans that focused on a different theme every week and included story time, activity, and crafts,” continued Yargeau. “33 of our families signed up for this creative program, and if the smiles could write a story, there would be no space in our library.”
