Penhold & District Library recipients of the 2021 TD Summer Reading Club Award
The Penhold & District Library has been acknowledged for its efforts in developing literacy skills.
An online presentation to celebrate those efforts was made June 8 by Karen Linauskas, Director, Exhibitions and Online Content, Public Service Branch Library, Archives Canada.
Officials say the jury was unanimous that Penhold went above and beyond to assure their patrons could continue to develop their literacy skills during the summer months, even with all the COVID-19 restrictions.
Their mobile Summer Reading program once a week had a coordinator go to the front lawns of families to bring a library program directly to them. This included story time and games related to the TD Summer Reading Club Theme, “Game On”. In addition, each child was given a mystery craft.
