Alberta Crop Report: May 6, 2022
The Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) released its first Alberta Crop Report of the season on Friday.
Reports show conditions, current as of a few days prior to release, in this case May 3.
Today, the AFSC says spring moisture accumulations have been variable around the province. Many parts of the province have received very low amounts over the last 30 days, though it notes the Central Zone has had normal precipitation.
“Provincially, 12 per cent of the spring crop is in the ground, two points ahead of the previous five-year average. Regionally, the South Region has 37 per cent of the crop in the ground, Central Region has planted six per cent of acres; while the North West, North East, and Peace Regions all have less than one per cent of the crop in the ground,” the report says.
