Mar 24, 2022 | 10:45 AM

The City of Lacombe is sharing its list of initiatives approved for 2022 Recreation & Culture grants.

This is the ninth year of the program, which funds projects that enhance the quality of life for residents through recreation and culture.

“The City is excited to collaborate with community organizations to give residents opportunities to enjoy recreation and culture experiences in supportive physical and social environments,” says Sandi Stewart, Manager of Community Development.

“The approved projects will benefit many in our community. Those with dementia can become active mentally and physically. Community families can enjoy spending time together. Programs encourage teens to be active, promoting free, inclusive recreation opportunities. Plus, everyone can learn about local Indigenous history and cultural practices through the Historical Society’s new program.”

The grant program provides $20,000 to programs, with the City receiving applications totaling $26,946. The Lacombe and District Recreation Parks and Culture Board approved $17,015 worth, with the remaining $2,985 still open to further applications.
