Saving Grace Animal Society hoping for boost in donations

A central Alberta animal rescue is struggling to keep its head above water.

That’s why, says Saving Grace Animal Society, it’s once again spreading word about its Brick By Brick campaign, which it hopes will inch closer towards a goal of raising $500,000 needed to open a new vet clinic.

Founded in 2018 and located in Alix, east of Lacombe, Saving Grace has already raised $290,000 for a new clinic.

“Donations have now come to a halt. With the increase we are seeing in medical surrenders lately, our bank account is at the lowest it has been in the last year and it’s a scary time not only for the society but for the animals in need of help,” says Amanda McClughan, development director.

“The amount of animals in distress has increased while donations and adoptions have slowed down.”

With a new goal of raising $20,000 during the month of October, McClughan notes a partner vet is also no longer able to keep up with demand.

Additionally, the rescue is continually looking for businesses and sponsors to partner with. Those interested can email amanda@savinggraceanimalsociety.com.
