Football Alberta weekly high school rankings

Oct 3, 2021 | 10:59 AM

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all four tiers of 12-man high school football in Alberta and the 6-man rankings as well for the 2021 season.

These rankings come out every Sunday until Nov. 7. At that time, those will be the last rankings and teams will take this rank into Provincials.

Teams are slotted into tiers based on their estimated school size, which may change once official counts are known at the end of September. Please note that games vs. US opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools.

GAME(S) OF THE WEEK:

Tier I & II

#2 (Tier II) Medicine Hat Hawks at #8 (Tier I) Raymond Comets

6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, Comets Stadium (Raymond)

There is something going on in Southern Alberta this year, big games all over the place.

Each week some of Southern Alberta’s top Tier I and II teams from outside Calgary are meeting up in must see games. The reason? For years, larger schools have existed in leagues full of smaller schools and in some situations have led to competitive imbalance. At the same time, the larger schools interested in advancing to Provincials had few games to sharpen the axe.

The solution? An unofficial Southern Alberta Division I Exhibition schedule was drawn up featuring Raymond, L.C.I, Medicine Hat, Cardston, Catholic Central, Foothills and Holy Trinity Academy and each team will play the others while honoring their league schedules (if any) to the best of their ability.

This weekend features just such a game as the undefeated Medicine Hat Hawks travel to Raymond to take on the Comets and arguably Canada’s most passionate hometown fans.
