The City of Lacombe is taking a number of new measures in light of announcements made this week by the provincial government related to COVID-19.

The measures are as follows:

Lacombe City Hall will remain open to the public. Masking continues to be required in all areas of the facility. Public Works will remain open to the public by appointment only, and masking continues to be required in all areas of the facility.

Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex

The following actions apply to the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex (GMAGS):

• Youth (under 18) sport, fitness, recreation and performance activities (September 16)

o Indoor group classes, training, and competitions are permitted, but participants need to screen for symptoms and maintain two metres distancing, except youth while engaged in physical activity

o Wear a mask, except youth while engaged in physical activity

• Spectator attendance is restricted to 1/3 fire code capacity; attendees are limited to a single household or two close contacts if living alone and must be masked and maintain two metres physical distancing

Adult (over 18) sport, fitness, recreation and performance activities (September 20)

• Indoor competitions, training, and activity are not allowed unless the organizers implement the provincial Restriction Exemption Program (REP).

The City is currently targeting October to implement a broader facility version of the REP. Further details will be shared when available

Kinsmen Aquatic Centre

Beginning Monday, Sept. 20, the following will apply to Kinsmen Aquatic Centre users:

Masks will be required on deck and in the change rooms. There will be a REP for all adult programming (water fitness and adult lessons). Once proof of vaccination is provided, passes will be tagged and approved for entry.

Youth programming will be drop-off for ages 6+. Preschool lessons and children with medical concerns may have one spectator masked in the viewing area and spaced two metres apart.

Lane swimmers are required to maintain a 3-metre distance from others at all times. Lanes must be pre-booked in 30-minute intervals.

For water fitness classes, the REP will allow for classes to run for those vaccinated. Participants must have a membership/pass.

For Parent & Tot Swim/ Public Swims, pool staff will limit capacity to 50 and require families to be spread out two metres apart. Users must pre-book online.

For swim lessons & Junior Lifeguard Club, programs will be drop-off and run as scheduled. Parented classes and adult swim lessons will require proof of vaccination or negative test to continue with lessons. Preschool lessons may have one spectator masked in the viewing area and spaced two metres apart.

For advanced courses, programs will run as scheduled.

For pool rentals, renters are responsible for implementing a REP program for all facility bookings that exceed one family.

If you cannot attend due to these restrictions, you may cancel your program/booking and receive a refund.

Lacombe Memorial Centre

The Lacombe Memorial Centre (LMC) hosts several uses treated differently under the Alberta Government restrictions.

The City of Lacombe will be requiring individual users to either:

• Abide by the new restrictions on non-essential events and businesses, OR

• Implement and manage the REP for their event space.

The LMC will remain open to the public.
