Red Deer County, Rocky View County launch online educational tool, “A Year on the Farm”

Ever wonder what happens year-round on the farm?

Find out with Red Deer County & Rocky View County’s new online, interactive tool, A Year on the Farm.

A Year on the Farm was created to help non-farmers better understand farming operations and what they may see or experience in their travels around the county.

The tool explains what happens on a cow/calving operation, a haying/silaging operation and an annual crop operation. Each operation type is laid out with a timeline of what happens over the year, as well as detailed information about the operation.

“Many people live in close proximity to farming operations and it is beneficial for them to have an understanding of the agriculture around them,” says Aimee Delaney, Red Deer County Ag Relations. “A Year on the Farm will help educate people about farming practices happening right next door.”
