Town of Blackfalds unveils new website

Aug 27, 2021 | 2:14 PM

The Town of Blackfalds has launched a new and user-friendly website that aims to help residents, visitors, and business owners access information more quickly and efficiently.

With a new, vibrant and fresh interface, the website is meant to be an exclusive information source for the Town and aims to increase public engagement and raise awareness of Town programs, events, and services.

“After nearly a year of hard work and dedication, we are delighted to officially reveal our new website,” shared Marketing and Communication Manager Miranda Cooper, in a press release. “It was important to provide the public with a website that is intuitive, faster, easier to navigate, and mobile-responsive.”

Town officials say the website features a dynamic home page with content that includes weather notices, garbage schedules, and fire ratings.

Along with an improved search function, business directory, and Abbey Centre microsite, the site also has quick links that scroll with the page and comprises web pages that are, according to Google Analytics, the most frequently visited, such as the Abbey Centre, and careers, and the events calendar.

Users can now add their own community notices and events to the website, and business owners may submit their business information to the new Business Directory.

Additionally, residents and visitors can choose to receive immediate notices from the municipality via a new alert system called Blackfalds Messenger. Users simply register their phone numbers and/or email addresses, and then will be notified of the latest events, weather, and emergencies in real-time by text, voice message, or email.

The new site will also serve as a portal for the new Citizen Request Portal which replaces the current Blackfalds Connect (report an issue) app and promises a more streamlined approach to request Town services and report issues. The new portal will be available in September, 2021.

Town officials note, the Marketing and Communications Department welcomes all feedback in relation to the site. Visitors can use the poll on the main page to let the Town know what you think of the new site, or they can also email communications@blackfalds.ca.
