A Rocky Mountain House couple is suddenly $2 million richer.

Maryann Dickson told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation she was enjoying her evening at home when she decided to check her WESTERN 649 ticket numbers online.

She checked the ticket she shared with husband Gerald Stenvers and discovered it was the winner of $2 million on the May 12 draw.

“I was watching television, about to go to bed,” said Dickson. “I checked the numbers on WCLC’s website and couldn’t believe it! I called Gerald at work and said, ‘Don’t panic, but we won $2 million!’”

Stenvers says he was equally surprised, saying he asked his wife if she was sure she had the right numbers.

The winners have big plans for their new fortune.

“We’re both going to retire,” said Dickson. “We’re also looking into moving back east. Most of our family still lives there and we’ve wanted to move back for years.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Mobil on 46 Street in Rocky Mountain House. Their winning numbers were 12, 16, 19, 27, 34 and 41.
