One Dead, Two Injured

RCMP investigating fatal crash north of Blackfalds

One person is dead and two people are injured following a two-vehicle crash north of Blackfalds Tuesday.

RCMP say it happened at approximately 11:45 a.m. when Mounties responded to a collision between a truck and a passenger vehicle on Highway 2A near Township Road 400.

Blackfalds RCMP attended the scene along with emergency medical services.

A 41-year-old male in the truck was transported to hospital with serious injuries, but is in stable condition. While a 72-year-old adult male driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Sadly, a 75-year-old female who was a passenger in the second vehicle was declared deceased at the scene.

Police say their preliminary investigation reveals the truck was travelling southbound on Highway 2A when it crossed the centre line and struck the passenger vehicle travelling northbound.

Blackfalds RCMP continue to investigate the cause of this collision.
