May 31, 2021 | 2:03 PM

The Chinook’s Edge Board of Trustees has approved a $127 million budget for the 2021-2022 school year, following an extensive presentation from Treasurer Susan Roy.

District officials say this included a request to the Minister of Education to carry an operating deficiency of $2.4 million, along with a list of expenditures for ministerial approval.

With net amortization of $1.23 million, and capital purchases of $1.64 million, division operating reserves are expected to decline by $2.3 million, while division capital reserves are expected to decline by $465,000.

Budget projections from schools, meanwhile, indicate that student enrollment is expected to stabilize to pre-pandemic numbers, at approximately 11,000 students.
