Drayton Valley Thunder’s Mason Marcellus named AJHL Rookie of the Week for second straight week

The Drayton Valley Thunder’s Mason Marcellus has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) Rookie of the Week for a second consecutive week.

This is also the third time Marcellus has received the honour this season.

Marcellus added 5 points (1G, 4A) to his point total in a 7-4 victory over the Spruce Grove Saints on May 1, and was selected as the Star of the Game for a fourth time this season.

As the Drayton Valley Thunder’s season has now come to an end, Marcellus finishes his rookie year as the team’s leading scorer with 22 points (6G, 16A) and currently leads all AJHL rookies.

The 18-year-old forward is also tied for fifth in the AJHL Scoring Race as the League enters the final weekend of gameplay.
