Drayton Valley RCMP Report: April 22 – April 28

April 22

10:35 am – Brazeau County – Golf Course – Complainant attended the detachment to report his truck was hit while parked at the golf course.

8:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Dodson Plaza – Complainant reported a truck parked in the lot for a couple of days, suspects it to be stolen. Member contacted the owner who advised the truck had broken down and would be towed the next day.

9:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members were flagged down by someone reporting a male and female arguing. Member spoke to both parties, no charges.

9:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant requested a check on a female who was relentlessly calling and texting her. Complainant advised that she had been calling clients to update account information and that the female thought it was a scam so was apparently trying to harass her. The female was advised it wasn’t a scam call and to stop harassing the complainant.

April 23

4:13 am – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported his 1998 Dodge pickup stolen from in front of his house. Member investigated and made patrols, truck not located. The truck was recovered later in the day in the Breton area. Under investigation.

7:05 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported various strange goings on at his apartment. Member attended and determined that the various complaints were due to lack of sleep, intoxication, and mental health concerns. Insufficient grounds for police intervention.

8:47 am – Drayton Valley – Complaint received of some property located. Member attended and retrieved the items.

9:00 am – Drayton Valley – Police assisted County Peace Officers by adding several outstanding arrest warrants to the appropriate database.

10:00 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Members attended a residence to check on a male after an insurance adjuster in Ontario reported he had made some possibly suicidal comments during a phone call. The male was determined to be fine and had just been venting.

2:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint received from Edmonton Police reporting a hangup 911 call at the Misericordia Hospital from a number in Drayton Valley. Members spoke to the phone owner who was trying to inquire about a family member in hospital.

4:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Members on patrol located a vehicle and noted the attached plate to be very poorly altered in an attempt to conceal the numbers. The plate and truck were both determined to have been stolen out of Edmonton. Vehicle towed, investigation ongoing.

10:54 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Two open line 911 calls received from a location. Members located the male who was very intoxicated and had misdialled twice. Everyone in the residence was spoken to and all were fine.

April 24

3:04 am – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/50 St South entrance – Complainant reported a black Ford Ranger stunting at high speed. Members responded but the vehicle wasn’t located.

11:08 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported damage to a couple of utility room doors in an apartment building and a couple of breakers turned off, suspected a local male involved in similar incidents. Under investigation.

12:42 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 624/RR 71 – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver in a white commercial van; driver all over the road. Members located the van in Rocky Rapids, driver was confirmed as sober via a roadside screening device, said the wind was blowing him about the road.

2:24 pm – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle seen parked near her residence for the past few days. When she went to talk to the driver he left. Member investigated, no apparent concerns though unable to reach the owner at the time to find out why he was parked at the location.

5:20 pm – Drayton Valley – HW Pickup – Complainant reported hearing footsteps on the roof, thinks someone is up there. Complainant then reported that the kids involved were now at Aurora School. Members attended and warned the youth involved and followed up with phone calls to their parents.

7:01 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported an unwanted customer who kept coming in for small things, was talking to himself, and smelt bad. Complainant suspected the male was high. Complainant then reported that the male had left. The male was located on a subsequent call.

7:10 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Members on patrol were observed by a known male who upon recognizing police jumped from the truck he was driving and took off on foot, successfully evading capture. Members determined the truck was stolen and will be issuing a warrant for the male.

April 25

4:32 am – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported a female yelling and screaming from a suite. Member attended and spoke to the female who denied being noisy but agreed to keep it down.

8:26 am – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Member attended location to euthanize an injured deer.

9:23 am – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reported a male passed out in a running truck on a lease site. Members attended, male claimed to have been picking bottles and was waiting for a friend. Nothing to indicate any criminal activity, male was told to move along.

11:10 am – Brazeau County – RR 85/Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported an abandoned vehicle. Member attended and found the attached plate didn’t match and the car had no registration. Vehicle was towed.

11:32 am – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a report of a deceased male. Circumstances not suspicious, investigation turned over to the medical examiner.

2:11 pm – Brazeau County – RR 70 – Report of loose cattle. Police attended, located the owner who came and collected the cows.

3:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – False alarm at a school, likely caused by power issues in the area. Building was secure.

8:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Erratic driver complaint. Police located the vehicle, the driver was sober but a ticket was issued.

April 26

8:57 am – Drayton Valley – Request from Thorsby RCMP to serve a document locally.

9:05 am – Drayton Valley – Report from a company of a fraudulent cheque being cashed. Investigation ongoing.

10:32 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – 2 vehicle collision that occurred April 23. No injuries.

11:40 am – Brazeau County – Theft of batteries and solar panels from a lease site overnight.

1:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – A 21-speed mountain bike was turned in to the detachment.

1:38 pm – Brazeau County – Landfill – Someone entered the landfill and set some garbage on fire the night before. The fire was already out, no damage was caused.

2:45 pm – Brazeau County – 2006 Allmand light tower was stolen from a rural property.

3:48 pm – Drayton Valley – Police were called to a domestic incident that happened in a private dwelling. A male was arrested inside and held for a JIR hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace on conditions. Details of the offence and charges will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.

6:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Drayton Manor – Police were called to a possible breach of conditions. Police were unable to determine if an offence had taken place.

6:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant advised that someone was accusing them of stealing a truck on Facebook and wanted police to have it removed. Police suggested they report it to Facebook.

7:21 pm – Parkland County – Report of a domestic incident, police attended, matter appeared to be a verbal altercation, both parties agreed to separate for the night to prevent the matter from escalating.

April 27

7:06 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Vehicle entered overnight, believed to be locked but no damage caused. Wallet stolen.

11:32 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle with a male inside. Vehicle is a green GMC Chevrolet. Member attended and located vehicle and male. Male advised that they had been having difficulty with the vehicle.

12:45 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on individual who they haven’t heard from. Members attended residence, person located in distress, EMS called.

1:20 pm – Brazeau County – RR 70 – Complainant reporting 3 cows on the road. Members attended, cows had been moved into a nearby field. Owner contacted.

2:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious abandoned vehicle. Vehicle has a broken windshield. Has been there all night. Member attended, not reported stolen.

2:59 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a blue semi-truck. Truck is in the middle of the road and swerving. Evansburg RCMP notified and located vehicle.

3:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant reporting an aggressive driver in school zone near St. Anthony school. Member attended and located vehicle. Driver warned about manner of driving.

4:23 pm – Drayton Valley – Meier Avenue – Complainant reporting suspicious male driving a dark blue older vehicle. Member patrolled and located vehicle. Driver had just purchased the vehicle.

5:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting unwanted male at post office. Member attended and located male sleeping in vestibule. Male left when asked to.

5:28 pm – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting suspicious male in a yard. When saw complainant, the male ran and jumped over the fence. Members attended and located male who is known to members. Male told to stay off private property.

7:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant calling to report people removing things from old residence. Individual had been hired to clean up property.

8:05 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 624 – Complainant reporting a suspicious male walking on the highway acting strange. Members attended and located individual who was walking to mom’s house.

8:44 pm – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Complainant reporting drug paraphernalia located near residence. Member attended and seized items.

9:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting male sleeping in vestibule of post office. Member attended, same male as previous. Male has no where else to go since MAT program closed. Member warned male to not make a mess and to behave.

April 28

8:21 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Theft of motorcycle overnight. Motorcycle is a black 2010 Ninja 250, Alberta license MXV11.

8:50 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Police were called to do a wellbeing check on a resident. When members arrived they found a person in medical distress and Emergency Medical Services was contacted and they were transported to hospital.

9:06 am – Drayton Valley – 34 Avenue – Energy drink found with an unknown foreign substance inside that the complainant believed to be drugs. Police seized the can and had it disposed of safely.

9:58 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Police were called to an assault in progress involving 3 males. Members arrived and after sorting everything out determined that it was a consensual fight, no evidence to support charges, and all parties were released.

10:44 am – Parkland County – Report of a property dispute originating in 2015 regarding the lending of property.

2:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Call of a verbal altercation that escalated when the other party reported pointed a firearm. Police attended the area and located the suspect who had tools and parts of equipment in his possession, but no firearms were found. The other party was reported to have been driving erratically in a high traffic area and the suspect was yelling at them to slow down. No evidence of any criminal offence.

3:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Request for member to assist in landlord-tenant dispute. Member advised that police possibly could attend to keep the peace, however that is the only assistance.

5:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting theft of wallet. Complainant had placed their wallet on the counter and was taken by a female wearing a red mask who got into a blue Honda Civic with tinted windows. Matter is still under investigation.
