Lacombe woman Alberta’s newest millionaire

Trudy Allen of Lacombe had no idea she was about to become a millionaire when she woke up on a Thursday and checked her WESTERN 649 ticket.

Allen won $1 million on the April 7 draw.

“I always check my numbers online the day after the draw,” Allen said, in a press release. “But I was in total shock when my numbers matched.”

Allen said she has one big plan for her winnings.

“I’m going to retire as soon as the money is in my account!” she exclaimed.

The winner said she also hopes to take a vacation when COVID restrictions have been lifted.

“I would like to travel when it’s safe to do so,” shared Allen. “I’d like to see Europe and travel to as many countries as possible.”

Allen purchased her winning ticket at the Lacombe Rexall located at 5010 53 Street in Lacombe. Her player-selected numbers, a combination of birthdays and other special dates, were 7, 10, 11, 30, 31 and 49.

Allen is Alberta’s 17th lottery millionaire since the start of 2021. The five most recent million-dollar (or more) wins paid out to Alberta winners also include:

• $1 million LOTTO MAX win in Fort McMurray, paid on March 11, 2021
• $1 million LOTTO 6/49 win in Strathmore, paid on March 29, 2021
