March another big month for Red Deer home sales

March was another outstanding month for home sales in Red Deer.

The latest numbers from the Central Alberta Realtors Association show 181 residential units were sold in the city last month, nearly double the 101 units sold in March 2020 and by far the best March sales-wise in the last five years.

So far in 2021, 422 homes have been sold in Red Deer, up from 249 through the first three months of last year and the best start to a year since 2017.

The average sale price for a home in Red Deer last month was $328,364, about 4.5 per cent higher than March 2020 but down over seven per cent from $352,106 in February 2021.

Homes sold in Red Deer last month were on the market for an average of 54 days, down from 70 in March 2020.
