Drayton Valley RCMP Report: April 8 – April 14

April 8

9:22 am – Brazeau County – 911 hang up received from residence. On callback, number went straight to voicemail. Member attended residence and was confronted with a male who was angry and requested member get off their property. Member left as requested.

9:20 am – Brazeau County – Complainant calling to report a suspicious trailer along with theft of several items. Complainant advised they had looked into the trailer and all belongings were there.

11:06 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant called to report their vehicle would not start and had it towed. When they returned a few days later, they observed damage to the right front fender.

1:11 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 624 – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle. Several calls received. Member attended and determined an investigation into the abandoned vehicle had already been started. Member got ahold of owner who advised the vehicle had broken down. Nothing suspicious.

1:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting an individual smoking marijuana in the Omniplex. Member attended and located known male who is on conditions not to possess or smoke marijuana. Male arrested and released.

2:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant calling to report a rental vehicle had not been returned and they have not been able to get a hold of the individual who rented the vehicle.

4:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant reporting an individual who is suspended from driving is driving a grey Volkswagen Jetta. Member located vehicle at Wal-Mart. Male observed leaving the store and getting into the vehicle. Driver arrested and vehicle towed.

6:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an unwanted male. Male is being aggressive. Members attended and arrested male as he had uttered threats to complainant. Once in handcuffs, male became very aggressive to police officers, kicking and yelling. Male taken to the Drayton Valley detachment and held for a bail hearing.

9:36 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting known male attended residence and damaged side door, then drove off. Members attended and spoke with complainant. Matter is still under investigation.

10:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – 911 call. Members attended and located individual who was in need of medical assistance. Member escorted individual to hospital.

10:55 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a white Chevrolet half-ton truck is being driven erratically, all over the road. Member patrolled the area with negative results.

April 9

3:09 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Request to assist fire department at a structure fire. Members attended, resident had gotten out safely. Trailer very damaged. Matter is still under investigation.

8:17 am – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported a female causing a disturbance at a nearby residence, at one point banging a rake on the door. Members attended and determined the female was a resident who had been locked out.

11:46 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant attended to report two license plates stolen from company vehicles. Complainant determined the plates were missing after receiving traffic tickets in the mail.

12:47 pm – Drayton Valley – Northview Cr – Complainant reported her vehicle entered overnight, rummaged through, mailbox key stolen.

2:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Call received from staff at a medical clinic requesting a wellbeing check on a patient. Male patient had cancelled an appointment and made some troubling comments. Member located the male and determined he was fine.

2:48 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint received from local tire shop that an expensive set of tires had been ordered and picked up; paid for by a credit card. Complainant later determined the purchase was fraudulent. A different employee subsequently observed the tires on a local truck. Under investigation.

2:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported windows broken in her residence. Suspect located and arrested, relative of complainant. A 22-year-old male was held for a bail hearing. The suspect was released after the hearing on conditions.

3:08 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported a GMC Acadia stolen from driveway. Under investigation.

3:27 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported a dangerous driver, entering oncoming lane. No plate provided for the “white work truck”. Patrols made, no suspicious vehicles observed.

3:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on her elderly neighbour. Member attended, the male was fine, just had a sore back.

4:04 pm – Drayton Valley – RR 73 – Complainant reported a location for a male being sought by police (see report from 2:56 pm).

4:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a ring stolen from his apartment, suspected a neighbour. Complainant later called back advising he had found the ring, which wasn’t stolen.

7:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a grey small car passing dangerously on a double solid line. Vehicle not located, members were unable to patrol at the time, no plate provided.

April 10

9:33 am – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complaint received from a 12-year-old male that his bike had been stolen from his front yard overnight. Complainant later called back and advised his father had put the bike in the shed.

10:05 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood – Complainant reported going to her daughters’ residence and finding a male in the yard who wasn’t supposed to be there. Under investigation.

April 11

1:21 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 & RR 81 – Report of a possible copper wire theft. Members attended the location and located a bundle of wire that had been moved. The theft was unsuccessful. No witnesses.

1:26 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting Telus cables cut north of Hwy 621 and RR 81.

2:21 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 & RR 81 – Members were in the area on an unrelated matter and observed a black truck speeding away. Traffic stop was initiated. Driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. Driver charged. Vehicle towed.

2:50 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting male is in the landfill picking up metal. Member attended and searched landfill, no one observed.

6:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant reporting damage to playground. Members attended, playground piece broke during play. Not intentional.

6:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting ex-girlfriend is constantly harassing him through text messages. Would like assistance.

7:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting their Facebook was hacked. Hacker is now messaging all contacts and asking for money.

7:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious male. Member attended, male had left.

7:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Request to assist EMS with male. Members attended, male went to hospital with grandmother.

April 12

2:50 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a male is walking a bike inside the landfill and picking up metal. Member attended and patrolled inside the landfill, no male located.

10:28 am – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant reporting a suspicious person pushing a vehicle down the road. Vehicle is a blue older Dodge. All windows broken. Member attended and located the vehicle with male. Male advised they were in the process of getting their battery fixed.

10:38 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a newer model black small truck. Vehicle is crossing over the centre line and trying to pass the complainant with oncoming traffic. Member patrolled the area, vehicle not located.

11:42 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant attended the detachment to report someone entered their red 2012 Ford Fusion overnight. Insurance and registration stolen.

12:48 pm – Brazeau County – Alarm company reporting an alarm at residence. Members attended, contractors onsite installing cabinets.

1:38 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 624 – Complainant reporting theft from vehicle. Binoculars and hunting knife stolen. Suspect vehicle is a burgundy Dodge Caliber. Member attended and made patrols in the area. Vehicle not located.

2:26 PM – Brazeau County – RR 51 – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Burgundy KIA came into complainant’s driveway and then backed up at the shop. Matched the description from previous complaint. Members attended and patrolled the area. Vehicle not located.

4:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting vehicle stolen. Vehicle had been bought off tow company, previous owner had stated they would steal it back. Vehicle had been reported stolen in September of 2020. Vehicle returned to rightful owner.

10:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 58 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle driving slowly around HW Pickup school. Member attended and conducted patrols around the school. Vehicle was gone.

10:51 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding.

11:18 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting 2 trespassers digging around at the landfill. Members attended and patrolled the area, persons not located.

11:26 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting a male with a knife in the hallway. Male had followed complainant from the lobby to the 3rd floor. Male is in mid 20’s, dark hair shaved on the sides carrying a backpack. Members attended, suspect was gone, however description provided is a known male to police. Complainant stated they weren’t sure if it was a knife or not. Members located suspect and searched them. No knife located.

April 13

3:09 am – Brazeau County – Telus reporting cable cut near RR 71. Members attended location, patrols conducted, nothing located.

6:53 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Alarm company reporting an alarm. Member attended and spoke with resident who advised they accidentally hit the alarm.

7:43 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting someone had locked themselves in the bathroom. Members attended and located known male sleeping. Charges pending.

8:22 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a hotel room broken into. 2 people are still inside and sleeping. Complainant is familiar with individuals. Members attended and located male and female. Both arrested and charged.

10:04 am – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting they were driving northbound when a deer came out of the ditch and collided with the front passenger side of their vehicle.

3:47 pm – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting their licence plate stolen.

4:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on neighbour who hasn’t been seen for a few days. Members attended, occupants spoken to and they were fine.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Request from EMS to assist with female. Members attended and assisted as requested.

9:22 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a fire at the landfill. Male suspect. Members attended, located place where fire had been and suspect located hiding. Suspect arrested and charged.

April 14

12:37 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to turn in a wallet and a container with white powder. Container had Methamphetamine inside.

11:05 am – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant calling to report a moose ran into the side of their gravel truck. Members and Fish and Wildlife attended and euthanized the moose.

12:43 ppm – Brazeau County – Complainant advised that they found a headache rack in a field near a lease site. Members attended and seized rack.

2:15 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of copper wire from lease site. Suspect vehicle.

2:35 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting a small orange and red airplane has been circling very low over their property for the past 3 years.

5:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant calling to report male is acting erratically. Members attended and spoke with all parties involved. Male eventually calmed down.

6:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting their shed had been broken into. Boards had been removed from the back of the shed and the inside rummaged through. Members attended, nothing appeared to be missing.

8:35 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Request to assist CPO. CPO had attempted to stop a vehicle that did not stop. Vehicle is a silver Ford F-150 with wide tires and a lift kit.

9:38 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding.

10:11 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant had attended a residence advising their brother was hurt. Members located brother who was fine, no injuries.

11:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle, white Chevy truck with a lift kit, one occupant, and one male on the roof of a building. Members attended location, however, no truck or individuals observed.
