Woody’s Marathon to return this fall

Officials with the Woody’s RV World Marathon/Half-marathon say that after cancelling last year’s event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, “Alberta’s River Run” will return this fall.

The popular event typically happens on May Long Weekend. However, the 2021 edition will go sometime in either September or October.

“The Woody’s Marathon committee has been diligently watching the updates from the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services to make some important decisions about the 2021 race,” reads a post on the race website.

“Given the current situation in the province we have decided to bump our 2021 race from May long weekend to a weekend in September or October in 2021. With this brings a few logistical issues, and we aren’t prepared to release an exact date today (but we will as soon as we can).”

The committee will continue to provide updates as decisions are made and more is known about the COVID-19 situation in Alberta in the coming months.
