Drayton Valley RCMP Report: March 18 – March 24

March 18

8:49 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 502 – Complainant cleaning up location where a previous presumed stolen vehicle had been located and found several needles. Member attended, seized needles and disposed of them properly

10:52 am – Brazeau County – Elk River Rd area – Complainant reported a collision that occurred Feb 19.

3:15 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reported concern for wellbeing of a family member, but only wanted police to be aware. Complainant will be following up himself.

3:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Open line 911 call from apartment in a senior’s residence. Member confirmed by phone and attendance that there was no emergency.

8:26 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/62 St – Complainant reported a black Dodge pickup blew a stop sign and headed east. Member patrolled the area, vehicle not located, no plate obtained.

9:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Third-party complaint of a son being verbally abusive to his father. Under investigation.

9:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Aspen Waste – Members responded to a complaint of trespassers in the dump. Suspects were located and left when told to.

March 19

1:58 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported suspected alcohol or drugs at a residence where a family member resides. Members attended and spoke to an intoxicated female resident who was cooperative when advised her music was too loud. No other interventions warranted.

2:29 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Members returned to the above address after receiving an “anonymous” complaint from a known male reporting his female friend had run from the residence after an argument. Members were unable to locate either person, eventually reaching the complainant who advised his friend was fine and staying at a friends. This male, who had called for assistance, advised he “does not answer questions.”

5:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his 2014 black F-150, Saskatchewan plate 690KML, stolen from a hotel parking lot sometime overnight. Truck has a damaged tailgate and a “551” sticker in the back window.

10:47 am – Drayton Valley – Complaint of a possible fraud, issues related to the purchase of a used vehicle. Under investigation.

12:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported selling a vehicle the day before and receiving a call later in the day from the purchaser, complaining about the car. Complainant was given advice on the matter (note, not related to above complaint).

3:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Investigation opened into assault(s) that occurred at a local school.

9:59 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment requesting assistance after having an argument with his spouse. Members attended the residence and kept the peace while one person left for the night. No offence occurred.

10:38 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported an erratic, possibly impaired driver. Member conducted a traffic stop, driver was sober but already had a notice on his BC license advising him to followup with RoadSafe BC.

March 20

1:15 am – Tomahawk – Hwy 759 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. The male driver provided a mandatory breath sample, which resulted in a “warn” response, resulting in the driver being issued a 3-day driving suspension and his vehicle being impounded.

2:25 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Canadian Shoplifter: Complainant reported a male wearing a red bandana entered the store, wandered around, grabbed a bunch of stuff, and then ran from the store after apologizing twice. Member patrolled, male not located. Surveillance video only showed clothing.

4:19 am – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Member responded to a panic alarm, determined that an employee re-entering from a smoke break inputted the wrong code and a second employee was unable to verify the password. No emergency, operator error only.

4:44 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Traffic stop conducted, male driver determined to be suspended. Driver was issued a notice to appear in court at a later date.

11:43 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported a male in a parking lot trying car doors. Member attended, suspect not located, complainant had lost sight of him.

1:13 pm – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported his 2008 Honda TRX450ER, AB plate MXV37, stolen from his property sometime overnight. Under investigation.

1:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complaint of 3 youths leaving a condom on a step of a residence. The youth were located and identified and the parents were notified to deal with the issue.

8:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report of squatters in a mobile home with a candle lit. Police attended, nobody answered the door and police had no reason to lawfully enter the property.

March 21

12:54 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complaint of an unwanted person at an apartment. Police attended, the person had already left, patrols made, police could not locate them.

1:42 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Police were called to the same apartment as earlier for the same person. Again when police arrived, they were no longer there.

11:17 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a possible missing person, family could not reach them. Police attended, the person came to the door and was safe, was just not answering their phone.

2:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Vandalism to a vehicle by 2 suspects. The two suspects smashed out the windows on a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse in the back alley with an unknown object and then left the scene.

2:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Call of a dog that approached the complainant’s dog. The dogs growled at each other, no bite occurred. Animal control advised.

2:29 pm – Brazeau County – 82 RR – Report of a dog being shot in a rural area. The owners found the dog deceased and when they took it to the vet to be cremated they were advised it had been shot.

4:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Concern of elder abuse. Police attended the location and spoke with all parties, matter appears to be a disagreement between family and not criminal in nature.

6:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Report of dirt bikes being ridden up and down the street. When police arrived there were no dirt bikes in the area.

7:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complaint of a possible breach of release conditions. Police attended the residence but were unable to substantiate the complaint.

8:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Call of people on the roof of a business. Police attended and located one person walking in the area who denied being on the roof. Nobody else was seen nearby. There did not appear to be any damage.

March 22

7:02 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – 2 vehicle collision, one vehicle sideswiped the other. No injuries.

7:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a verbal family dispute that took place 2 days prior. Police spoke with all parties and determined nothing criminal occurred.

9:01 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – 2 vehicle collision at a gas station. No injuries.

9:51 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complaint of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle belongs to a resident in the area who was advised of the parking bylaw.

10:07 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and conducted a sobriety test on the driver which they passed.

10:24 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Police were called to assist a civil enforcement bailiff conducting an eviction at a property where firearms were located and could not be left unattended. Police took custody of the firearms and learned one had been reported stolen out of Parkland RCMP Detachment in August 2020.

11:36 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

11:39 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a suspicious, possibly stolen vehicle with no licence plate and a smashed out window. Police located the vehicle, the driver was identified as the owner and did not realize the plate was missing and indicated it was either lost or stolen.

12:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Found child’s size bike near the Dollarama.

1:40 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Police, EMS, and Fire were called to a single-vehicle collision involving a semi-tanker that rolled in the ditch. The driver sustained minor injuries.

2:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Suspicious person looking in vehicles. Police attended and identified the suspect. There was no indication they had entered any vehicles or stolen anything.

2:37 pm – Drayton Valley – Twp 514 – Report of a collision on private property. No injuries, collisions on private property are not required to be reported to police.

4:14 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Anonymous complaint of unwanted people sleeping in the vestibule of a building at night.

4:33 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Call of someone attempting to steal a car. Police attended and located the suspect who was identified as the car’s owner; however, the suspect had outstanding warrants out Edmonton and was arrested.

7:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting they were assaulted. Matter is still under investigation. No concerns for the victim.

9:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failing to stop at red light.

March 23

11:37 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting they were assaulted by ex when they attended the residence to get some belongings. Members attended, one female arrested for assault.

3:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they lost their wallet near the Drayton Valley Hospital. Wallet is brown leather with lacing all around it.

5:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant calling to report unwanted contact. Complainant on no contact conditions with individual. Member spoke with person and warned them about contacting complainant.

6:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Landlord-tenant dispute. Complainant reporting landlord went into their locked room and threw things around. Would like to make arrangements for friend to attend and pick up their belongings.

7:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting that known male took their truck from DV Towing. Complainant advised they warned DV Towing that this person may try to get the vehicle.

8:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver. Members patrolled the area, vehicle not located.

11:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 39 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area. Vehicle described as a white Chevrolet truck with 3 occupants. Occupants got out of the truck and then complainant heard the sound of something breaking. Members attended area. Residence broken into. Matter is still under investigation.

March 24

4:20 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting someone is moving a house westbound. Load is very wide and complainant is concerned for safety of other drivers. Flashing lights had been utilized.

4:28 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting a possible assault in a vehicle. Older dark blue truck pulled into complainant’s field and turned off their lights. Complainant followed them and vehicle took off. Complainant followed vehicle until it stopped. When approached, two males got out of vehicle and punched complainant. Matter is still under investigation.

8:06 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant requesting a well-being check on family member who they have not been able to get in touch with. Member attended residence and spoke with individual who was ok.

9:13 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant calling to request removal of unwanted female. Female was refusing to leave the MAT program. Member attended and provided a courtesy ride to female.

9:13 am – Drayton valley – Mackenzie Avenue – Complainant called to report youth walking on the ice on Northview Pond. They were concerned for their safety. Member attended after school to speak with youth and advised them of the dangers.

9:17 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant called to report a male driving a white Dodge truck with a red fuel tank in the back had backed into their vehicle causing damage to their front end. The male then drove off. Unsure if they were aware they hit the vehicle.

10:24 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting someone broke into boiler room and cut water pipes. Investigation ongoing.

12:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant calling to report window in their apartment had been broken. Members attended location, it did not appear that entry had been made.

1:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 39 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter to residence. Television stolen. Members attended and located two individuals inside. Both individuals had been given permission to be there, this was confirmed. A break and enter had happened, they were attempting to secure the residence. Matter is still under investigation.

2:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Road – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failure to provide licence and registration.

3:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 39 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Violation ticket for failure to stop at crosswalk issued to driver.

3:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting an assault. There is a female in a red coat and a male in a black coat. Male has female pinned to the ground. Members attended and located victim who was uncooperative. Male located and arrested and charged with assault.

3:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting ex is breaching order of no contact. Complainant is on a no-contact order, however other party warned about contacting the complainant.

3:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 40 Street – Complainant calling to report numerous vehicles parked in front of their driveway while picking up and dropping off children at school. Members will patrol the area.

5:08 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant calling to report a possible impaired driver in a blue Chevrolet extended cab truck. Members patrolled the area, the vehicle was not located.

8:20 pm – Brazeau County – RR 55 – 911 hangup received from residence. Members attended residence and spoke with all parties about dialing 911 for no reason.

9:00 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Member on patrol observed two vehicles parked together at pullout. White Cadillac fled east on Hwy 39 when members activated emergency equipment. Other vehicle was detained.

10:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant calling to report an unwanted male at Sport Lounge. Male has fallen asleep and they can’t wake him up. Members attended, male provided a courtesy ride back to their hotel.

11:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant calling on behalf of family member to advise that unwanted male is attempting to enter the residence. Members attended, male had left prior to arrival. Male had been knocking on window, not attempting to break it.
