Rocky RCMP Report: March 5-8

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of March 5 – 8

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

March 5

6:08 A.M. – Call of a suspicious male in a vehicle, at an acreage in the Caroline area. When the property owner went to investigate, the male assaulted and threatened him and then fled on foot into the woods. The car had been just stolen 15 minutes prior from Caroline. Red Deer Police Dog Services attended and tracked the individual. He was located a few hours later walking on Highway #54 after a Clearwater County resident reported that a suspicious male was at the door asking for a glass of water and stating the police were after him. He was released by a Justice of the Peace after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

10:22 A.M. – Report of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

10:59 A.M. – Police arrested an adult male, who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, at a residence in RMH. He fled inside a residence after deploying bear spray on the members but then surrendered a short time later. He has been remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

12:42 P.M. – A 2003 grey Acura (Alberta licence plate CGT-9928) was reported stolen from a location in RMH.

2:56 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve, which was driven by a male who was known to be disqualified. A loaded sawed off shotgun was located in the vehicle. He was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and will appear in Provincial Court the following week.

March 6

8:29 A.M. – B&E reported to oilfield/gas resource company in Clearwater County. Ladders were used to clear the fence. Holiday trailers and a sea can were broken into. A 2010 orange/black Polaris Ranger Razor was stolen but was located in RMH. Under investigation.

5:14 P.M. – Bikes stolen from back yard at a residence in RMH.

March 7

10:30 A.M. – B&E reported to a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

March 8

00:40 A.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle in RMH, which driven by a suspended driver. Meth, Fentanyl, and Cocaine were located in the vehicle along with a sawed-off shotgun. Two adult males, one of whom was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, are facing charges for “Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking” and firearms related charges.

11:05 P.M. – Police and EMS attended a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. One individual was taken to the hospital by EMS and another person was arrested. The matter is under investigation.
