Mar 2, 2021 | 4:41 PM

Despite an equal number of building permits being issued last month when compared to February of last year, their value is still lower.

According to the latest stats, officials with the City of Red Deer say 52 permits were approved in February with a combined value of nearly $3.6 million. That compares with 52 permits issued in February 2020, worth nearly $4.6 million.

February’s permit values, however, are up from January when 60 permits were issued with a value of $2.9 million.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit for exterior façade improvements at 4747 53 Street, valued at $575,000.
  • Building permit for office building power distribution upgrade at 4831 51 Street, valued at $500,000.
  • Building permit for detached single-family dwelling with attached garage, covered veranda (no deck or basement development) at 11 Eaton Crescent, valued at $181,973.
  • Building permit for single family detached dwelling with attached garage, front veranda at 35 Eaton Crescent, valued at $181,713.
  • Building permit for a semi-detached dwelling with front attached garage, covered veranda at 2 Earl Close, valued at $147,579.

Year-to-date numbers, however, still show a significant drop in building permits values from last year.

From January to February, there have been 112 permits issued for a value of $6.4 million, down drastically from 108 permits issued in January and February, 2020 for a value of $65.1 million.
