RCMP say one person has suffered life-threatening following a serious collision this morning on the QEII Highway near Didsbury.

The single-vehicle crash happened just after 9 a.m. when police say a southbound SUV lost control approximately two kilometers south of the Highway 27 (Olds) overpass and rolled over, landing in the northbound lane.

A second occupant of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.

STARS was called to the scene.

RCMP say one northbound lane of traffic has reopened, but there are significant traffic delays and motorists are still requested to use an alternate route as emergency crews are expected to remain on scene for at least the next two hours.

“Motorists are asked to slow down in the area, be aware of emergency personnel and drive to the conditions. Ice on the roadway and blowing snow may impact driving conditions,” police note in a media release.
