Red Deer among 15 cold records set Monday in Alberta

To say that it’s been cold lately is an understatement.

Environment Canada says the “unseasonably cold arctic ridge of high pressure” continued to break low-temperature records across Alberta.

26 records were broken over the weekend with another 15 set on Monday.

Of the 15 communities with new records on Monday, Red Deer was the coldest at -43.9. That breaks the record set in 1936, which was -40.6.

Lacombe also set a new record on Monday, reaching -40.5 to break the old record of -39.4 set in 1936.

Here’s a full look at the cold temperature records set across the province on Monday (February 8, 2021), according to Environment Canada:
