Blackfalds RCMP advising motorists of poor road conditions

Blackfalds RCMP are advising motorists in central Alberta of poor driving conditions on Highway 2 near Blackfalds and Red Deer.

Travel is not recommended due to treacherous road conditions.

If you must travel, however, RCMP says to slow down and drive according to road conditions.

According to 511 Alberta, collisions have been reported at the Blindman River just south of Blackfalds, the northbound QEll at 32 Street and 67 Street exits, as well as an earlier MVC along Highway 27 in Olds.

Highway conditions in the Red Deer area are reported as being partly covered in snow with icy sections and reduced visibility.

As of 1:23 p.m., Hwy11A between Red Deer and Sylvan Lake reportedly has several vehicles in the ditch.

Further north, Leduc RCMP are responding to several collisions in the area.

Mounties there are advising motorist that roads in and around Leduc are icy due to recent snowfall, blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Travel is not recommended. However, if you must travel, slow down and drive according to road conditions.
